What Is a Coulomb?
A coulomb is a unit used to measure electric charge.
The coulomb is the SI derived unit for electric charge in the metric system. Coulombs can be abbreviated as C; for example, 1 coulomb can be written as 1 C.
Background and Origin
Coulombs are named in honor of Charles-Augustin de Coulomb who published a law quantifying the force between two electrically charged particles in 1785. This law is known today as Coulomb's Law. The coulomb was named as a unit of electromotive force in 1881.
How Much Is a Coulomb?
One coulomb is the electric charge equal to one ampere of current over one second.[1]
The coulomb can be expressed as QC = IA × ts
The charge in coulombs is equal to the current in amperes times the time in seconds.
How to Convert Coulombs
