What Is a Statfarad?
A statfarad is a unit used to measure capacitance.
The statfarad is a centimeter-gram-second (CGS) electrostatic unit of capacitance. A statfarad is sometimes also referred to as an ESU. Statfarads can be abbreviated as stF; for example, 1 statfarad can be written as 1 stF.
How Much Is a Statfarad?
The statfarad is defined as the capacitance of a capacitor that has a potential difference of one statvolt when charged by one statcoulomb of electricity. Although the statfarad contains the term "farad," it is not a multiple of the farad in the SI, and is actually equal to 1.11265 picofarads.
How to Convert Statfarads
To convert statfarads to another unit of capacitance, you need to multiply the value by a conversion factor. A conversion factor is a numerical value used to change the units of a measurement without changing the value.[1]
You can find the conversion factors for statfarads in the conversion table below.
Then, multiply the capacitance measurement by the conversion factor to find the equivalent value in the desired unit of measurement.
statfarads × conversion factor = result
