How to Calculate the Time Until the End of the School Year
Every school ends at a different time, but usually schools break for the summer in May or June. You can count down the time until school ends a few ways.
The easiest way is to use a school end countdown calculator like the one above or our time duration calculator.
To calculate the days of school left manually, follow these steps:
If the last day of school is in the current month, then you can calculate the days remaining using subtraction. Subtract the current day from the last day of school.
days until school ends = last day of school – current day
If the final day of school isn’t in the current month, then you’ll need to add the days left in the current month to the days in each month until the date to the days in the month remaining until summer break.
days until school ends = days left in current month + total days in next month + … + days in the month before last day of school
This is the same process that you’d use to countdown to the start of school, Christmas, your birthday, or any other event.
For instance, if it’s currently March 25th and school ends on June 5th, then you can find the days until school is out like this:
days until school ends = 6 + 30 + 31 + 4
days until school ends = 71 days
In this example, there are 6 days remaining in the current month, plus 30 days in April, plus 31 days in May, plus 4 days until June 5th. Thus, there are 71 days left of school.
